September 2011 - December 2013My responsibilities include assisting in the SEC's communications efforts with emphasis on volleyball, swimming & diving, gymnastics and softball, assisting with the conference's social media operations, and production of SEC publications including media guides and championship programs. Assistant Director of Communications at Southwestern Athletic Conference
July 2010 - September 2011I coordinated communications efforts for the 10 schools in the SWAC with an emphasis on Olympic sports, and also served as the secondary football and men's basketball contact. I facilitated scheduling with the league's television partners, including ESPN and syndication, and worked with the NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Committee on conference monitoring. Other duties included tabulating and distributing weekly awards and all-league team selections, and providing media support at SWAC championships. While at the SWAC, I helped increase the visibility of the league and nearly doubled the following on various social media outlets (Twitter, Facebook, YouTube). The SWAC ranked seventh out of all NCAA Division I conferences for social fan bases in 2011. I also had administrative duties in addition to my communications role. I served as the conference liaison for women's soccer and men's and women's tennis and monitored the legislative process for those sports. Managed web site (www.swac.org) through major redesign.

Assistant Sports Information Director at Howard University
July 2007 - July 2010I served as the primary contact for Olympic sports and secondary contact for football and men's basketball at Howard University, a NCAA Division I school in Washington, D.C. and traveled with teams as a media liason. I facilitated local and national interview requests (print, radio, TV) and managed the public relations aspects for Howard Homecoming, which garners national attention each year. I reported to four different conferences on a regular basis -- Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC), Atlantic Soccer Conference (ASC), Great West Conference and Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association (CCSA). I also managed an internal staff of 13 individuals (student workers and volunteers) and a $50,000 operating budget. Managed athletics web site through major redesign in my final year.

September 2004 - July 2007I wrote press releases, developed media guides and coordinated media coverage for the athletic teams at University of Maryland Eastern Shore, a NCAA Division I institution in Princess Anne, Md. I served as the primary contact for several sports, including men's basketball, and worked with the NCAA Championship women's bowling team. I performed those duties while completing graduate studies and was named the 2007 Hawk of the Year (an award given annually to a top-performing athletics employee).

May 2002 - August 2004I worked special events such as Family Night and various preseason games as well as training camp at Hofstra University. Other duties included preparing, setting up and operating Jets Fest - an interactive NFL theme park geared towards the football fan and family.

Marketing/Game Operations at Leicester Riders Basketball Club
January 2003 - May 2003I wrote and presented NBA recaps on air for a local sports radio station, Takeover Radio. I also assisted with various halftime festivities and edited content for game day programs. The Leicester Riders are members of the British Basketball League (BBL).

January 2002 - May 2002I organized all tape and duplication needs for the Customer Marketing and Sales department at ESPN ABC Sports. Other duties included screening and clipping sponsored elements (features, spots, billboards and vignettes). I also prepared and edited post production assignments for sponsors including Toyota and Anheuser-Busch.
